Last weekend marked the completion of principal photography on my latest short film, The Beard. The shoot it self was one that consisted of little time, a small cast/crew and an extremely tight budget, but I'm still relatively pleased with the footage we managed to shoot on the day and have high hopes for what the final product could be. Despite the film being a relatively low-concept idea, some of what I wanted to achieve still required time and resources that were beyond the productions ability to acquire. Additionally when you factor in night shoot conditions and heavy subject matter, things can get a bit overwhelming. But like on any shoot, you do the best with what you have, and with limited resources and time, you tend to shoot from the hip and go with your instincts, which I find often helps in achieving something consisting of more energy.
I would like to take a moment to thank the productions extremely hard working and devoted crew consisting of Matt Hotson, Barry Cheong, Jackie Chau, Jeff Magat, Adam Crosby, Christina Spina & Lovina M. Yavari. I'd also like to thank our amazing cast: Sam Moses, Philippe Buckland, Ryan Persaud and Jason Mercury. Finally a very special thanks to my amazing co-producer and partner in crime, Elena Pilar Nañes.
The film now moves into post-production, more specifically, into the more-than-capable hands of editor Kyle Wilson. Below are some early screen grabs pulled from the film.
